The typical home computer consists of a Monitor, a Mouse and the computer itself. The computer itself or box as I call it, could be a desk top, tower, mini tower or maybe even a laptop. The important thing is that you understand the real work being done is inside the box.

The box will house some extras as well usually a CD-Rom or DVD, a Floppy drive, a Sound card, a Network card and possibly a Modem. If you don't know what all of these things are it's ok for now. We can review the Computer Terms section together later to find out what all the terms or names mean. These basic computer lessons are just the beginning, later we will discuss more advanced topics.

The computer mouse in it's most basic form has a left and right button and usually a little wheel called a scroll wheel.

Your keyboard is where you do your typing some people have excellent typing skills and others have two finger typing skills all it means is one finishes before the other. Here is some information on using your keyboard.
