In Part2 of
e-mail
help we looked at adding a contact to our contact list. We also wrote
an e-mail using emails internal word processor and learned about
emoticons (smiley faces). We then learned how to attach a picture to an
email and after that we attached a regular file.
Then we sent
our e-mail to whom we addressed it, If you did not know an address you
sent me an e-mail which of course I will respond to you and let you
know I got your mail.
In this e-mail help tutorial we will look at receiving mail, saving
attachments and the forwarding of an email. When you log into your
account and go to the mail application it checks your mail immediately.
If you have been in your mail application for a while you may want to
press the
check mail button
to see if you have received any new mail. Lets say you have received a
new e-mail click on this e-mail and your screen should look like the
picture below.

Look at the top of your right hand window. At the top is the subject of
the e-mail and below it is who sent the email, listing their name and
beside it their e-mail address. Again if your not using Windows live
hotmail things may not be exactly as I have described in this e-mail
help tutorial.
If you know this person click on the
Mark as safe
text and it will show you the contents of the e-mail. If you
want to add this person to your contacts click on the
add contact icon
under the persons name like the picture below shows.

You should not open e-mails from people you do not know Doing so opens
your e-mail account to the chances of getting spam. We will talk about
spam in a later e-mail help tutorial.
Ok so we have received an e-mail from a friend or family member and
let's say it had a picture in it that we wanted to keep. To save this
picture move your mouse over the file name listed in the top of the
e-mail and left click on it. Shortly a file download box will appear
like the picture below.

Click on the
save
button and an explorer window will pop open. Now browse to where you
want to save the file and click the
save
button in the explorer window. You have now saved the picture to your
hard drive on your computer.
NOTE
saving any kind of file to your computer follows the same procedure.
Excellent your doing very well.

No e-mail help tutorial would be complete with out looking at
forwarding e-mail. Forwarding an e-mail is exactly as it sounds we will
forward or send it to someone else or many someone elses.
In the picture above our inbox shows two e-mails we want to forward the
top e-mail to someone. By clicking on the e-mail itself the envelope
icon changes to an empty box pick the e-mail you want to forward and
click inside the little box a check mark should appear in the box.
Now that we have chosen the e-mail to forward move your mouse up to the
toolbar and click on the
forward
button. The e-mail itself opens up and the
To box is empty.
Click on it and add the people you want to send it to from the drop
down list, keep adding people until your finished and then click on the
send button. Congratulations you just forwarded an e-mail. See how
easy it is.
So in this e-mail help tutorial we have forwarded an e-mail,
but what if we want to send an email back to someone with a
reply.
That is where
reply
and
reply all
come in. Make no mistake these two commands may sound alike but are
very different. look at the picture below.
Look at the To section and Cc section. To reply only to the person in
the
To
section choose
reply.
To reply to all the people listed in the
To section,
Cc section and even
those in the hidden
Bcc
choose the
reply all
button. Simply choose the e-mail to reply to choose reply or reply all
now your e-mail will appear.
Your
cursor will be at the top of the page and the original e-mail content
will be below. Type your reply, attach any files that need to be
attached and then click on the send button. That's it your done
replying to an e-mail. You have now done everything it takes to send,
receive, attach, save, forward and reply for emailing Congratulations.
Let's move on to
part 4.
