Internet Parental Controls

Internet parental controls are for our childrens safety and they don't like it, that must mean were doing something right. If your a parent and you have internet abuse happening at home don't worry were here to help.

If your new to the world of computers look at the Basic computer lessons section and we will soon have you managing your home computer. It is our goal to see every parent become an active well informed force in their kid's internet safety.

There are many levels of Internet parental controls but there all designed to restrict internet access. Maybe all you need to do is block a website we can show you how to do that. Maybe you have a problem with the popular website myspace, well we can show you how to block myspace as well.

Parents must be aware that most kids today know how to get around basic website blocking. It has even gotten to the point where kids are using proxy sites to try and gain entry to these sites when they have been blocked. To learn more about proxy sites click here.

To ensure control over your computer the use of user accounts is necessary. If you do not know about user accounts there is a tutorial on them here.  

Welcome back, now that you know about user accounts and that no one, even you, should use the administrator account, except off line. You also now know that children should only have limited accounts. Even knowing all of this a smart child can find ways around all of this.

The only real way to know what they are doing is by using Internet filtering software. These software programs range from free to hundreds of dollars. The software can do many things from monitoring sites visited, blocking sites you want to have blocked, keeping track of what is typed on the keyboard to screen shots of what is being uploaded and downloaded. 

There is even software that will e-mail you all of the above if your a parent who is away on business alot and can't be there to monitor logs daily now how is that for Internet parental controls.

Let's discuss these different softwares and what they can do for you. We will start with the free software and move upwards. One note before we start, I will talk about three different softwares here, there are many more different ones on the market. These three are the only ones I would use and that is only my opinion.

The free version of filtering software that I would use is Naomi let's talk about it here.

The mid-range software as I call it is PC-Tattletale it is a very good tool, let's see what it can do here.
