The internet
safety rules listed below are the basic rules that should always be in
place.
- Never allow the computer to be kept in a childs
bedroom. Always keep it in an open well used room like a family room.
- Never allow your child to be the administrator
of the computer. The administrator account has full control over the
computer. Your child should be a user with restrictions.
- Never allow your child to put the Internet
Service Provider Account in their name.
- Always make sure you are the administrator on
the computer and make sure your child does not know your password.
- Do not allow the use of a web cam with out you
being present while it is being used. A web cam is an easy way to post
pictures or video to the internet. (remember when a picture is posted
to the internet BILLIONS
of people have access to it.)
- Do not
allow the posting of any personal information this
includes your school, your mascot, friends names etc.
- If you cannot keep the computer in a common
area run a second video cable and setup another monitor in your common
area. (you can then see what they are doing any time)
- Do complete and sign a Internet Safety Contract.
- Do Check on your child occasionally when they
are online.
These rules are for internet safety for kids and teens alike.
